Top tips with helping your child to feel listened to at home

    Mental Health and Wellbeing

At the Crescent Primary School we think it is important to us that children, families and staff are all supported with their mental health and overall wellbeing.

Take a look at our Supporting Families Padlet which provides guidance across a range of areas linked to mental health and wellbeing.

At our school we want all children to:

    • Feel confident in themselves
    • Be able to express a range of emotions appropriately
    • Be able to make and maintain positive relationships with others
    • Cope with the stresses of every day life
    • Manage times of stress and be able to deal with change
    • Learn and achieve.

Our Designated Senior Mental Health Lead is Mrs Preston. Our pastoral lead is Mrs Howard and our two pastoral support workers are Mrs Eldridge and Mrs Gigg who are trained in ELSA, TALA, Family Links and Nurture. Please visit our Pastoral page for more information on what we offer.

                    Mrs Gigg                                    Mrs Eldridge

                    Mrs Preston                               Mrs Howard

In school, children can use the classroom worry boxes to speak to the teacher, the corridor worry boxes to speak to the pastoral team. The pastoral team offer targeted support for pupils either on a 1:1 basis or through small group work.

Mrs Howard and Mrs Eldridge have both completed the Mental Health First Aid course.

We are not mental health professionals but we can support your child in school and signpost to additional agencies where that may be appropriate. If you are concerned about your child's mental health and wellbeing, in addition to the support we can provide in school, there are a number of outside agencies that may be able to support and guide you.

The following websites may be useful depending on your child's needs.

Our theme for Children's Mental Health Week 23 was 'let's connect'.
