Science at The Crescent Primary school

    Science Curriculum Statement

At The Crescent Primary, science is a key part of our curriculum that encourages pupils to explore, question and make sense of the world around them. Through practical investigations, scientific enquiry and real-world learning experiences, pupils develop a secure understanding of scientific concepts alongside the skills needed to think critically, solve problems and communicate their ideas effectively. We aim to nurture children's natural curiosity and inspire a lifelong interest in science.

Our Science curriculum supports and promotes the school's core values of Love, Aspire, Belong and Curious.

    Love

We foster a love of science through engaging investigations, hands-on learning and opportunities for pupils to explore the natural and physical world around them.

    Aspire

We encourage pupils to think like scientists, challenge their understanding, persevere when solving problems and take pride in developing their scientific knowledge and skills.

    Belong

We create an inclusive learning environment where every pupil feels valued and confident to share ideas, work collaboratively and contribute to scientific discussions and investigations.

    Curious

We inspire curiosity by encouraging pupils to ask questions, explore scientific phenomena and develop their understanding through enquiry, observation and experimentation.

Through the teaching of science, pupils develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to understand the world around them and make informed decisions about their future. Children are encouraged to work scientifically by asking questions, planning investigations, collecting data, drawing conclusions and evaluating evidence. By providing a broad, exciting and relevant science curriculum, we equip our pupils with the curiosity, resilience and critical thinking skills needed for lifelong learning and future success.
